According to an August 2010 survey conducted by NavPress, people actively involved in discipleship have an intense desire to connect with others and with God on a deeper level.
To help meet these needs, NavPress has developed the Discipleship Network (www.discipleshipnetwork.org), an online community where people could who are passionate about discipleship can connect, communicate, and learn from one another. In the beta phase more than 850 people joined; members now total more than 1,770.
“The network is a place for people to find support and resources, share thoughts and biblical insights, and ask questions,” says network moderator Dr. Margie Williamson. “The most fun thing for me is watching where members are coming from across the world,” she says. Countries represented on the site include Zambia, Cambodia, Poland, and Northern Ireland.
Churches, too, are encouraged to join. “I would love for churches to share information about how they are building disciples,” says NavPress Director of Church and Denomination Relations Marsha Pursley.
The August 2010 survey was sent to subscribers of Discipleship Journal Online Newsletter and to buyers of NavPress discipleship products. It asked what areas of discipleship did respondents want to grow in the most.
