Author and speaker Carol Kent was recently featured in the season premiere of WE TV's Secret Lives of Women. Her story was one of four spotlighted, starting Aug. 18, on the segment "Mothers of Murderers," which chronicled how her son, Jason, shot and killed his wife's ex-husband. Jason was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.

The one-hour episode featured Kent, her husband, Gene, and Jason. Kent, who wrote about her experience in When I Lay My Isaac Down, told The Tampa Tribune that she did the show to help other mothers and relatives of inmates.

"Most people live in a prison of their own making ... when a family member is incarcerated," she said. "When we begin to be real, that is the mostfreeing experience we can have."

NavPress has named Dave Dravecky’s Outreach of Hope ministry as a partner in the fight against breast cancer as part of a fall CBA channel-exclusive program only for Christian stores

Pink Solo coverChristian retailers can participate in The Message of Hope program in which customers who purchase a copy of The Message//REMIX Solo [Pink Edition] by Eugene H. “We are excited to be able to partner with NavPress in distributing The Message of Hope along with the handwritten notes on the bookplates to those suffering with serious illness,” he said. “We hope and pray the entire Message//REMIX Solo [Pink Edition] project will draw everyone it touches closer to the heart of God in the midst of their journey.”

NavPress will donate a portion of the proceeds from all sales of Solo [Pink Edition] to breast cancer research. The white-and-pink devotional Bible costs $17.99 and releases Sept. 15.
