Author and speaker Carol Kent was recently featured in the season premiere of WE TV's Secret Lives of Women. Her story was one of four spotlighted, starting Aug. 18, on the segment
"Mothers of Murderers," which chronicled how her son, Jason, shot and killed his wife's ex-husband. Jason was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
The one-hour episode featured Kent, her husband, Gene, and Jason. Kent, who wrote about her experience in When I Lay My Isaac Down, told The Tampa Tribune that she did the show to help other mothers and relatives of inmates.
"Most people live in a prison of their own making ... when a family member is incarcerated," she said. "When we begin to be real, that is the mostfreeing experience we can have."
