Ron And Mary Bennett
Ron was born and raised in Iowa. While attending Iowa State University, he met The Navigators and developed a heart and vision for discipleship. Graduating with a B. S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Ron worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington before serving as an officer in the U.S. Army infantry and military intelligence which included a tour in Viet Nam.
After military service, Ron joined the staff of The Navigators pioneering a student ministry at St. Cloud University in Minnesota. During this time he met and married his wife, Mary. Mary has her undergraduate degree in Education and taught in high school for two years before marriage.
For the next twenty years, Ron led and supervised various collegiate ministries in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Illinois and Missouri. In 1982, Ron and his family moved to St Louis, MO where he was the Navigator Regional Director for Missouri and Kansas. His staff team directed ministries to the Universities, Military and community. In 1985 he was ordained through Hope Congregational Church.
Ron and Mary moved to Kansas City in 1990 where they became part of The Navigators Church Discipleship Ministry (CDM). Ron was a member of the CDM national leadership team for 16 years where he directed the work of their Strategic Resource Group. He authored the book Intentional Disciplemaking by NavPress and co-authored the books Opening the Door, and The Adventure of Discipling Others. He and his wife Mary have recently authored a Bible study series for new believers called Beginning the Walk also published by NavPress.
Most recently, they, and their Nav staff team have developed a discipleship series called HighQuest. The series is gender specific. The men’s version is called HighQuest: men on a mission. The women’s version is called HighQuest: women of distinction. Their material is available at www.highquest.info or www.highquestwomen.info. HighQuest is being used throughout the States, Canada, Asia, Guatemala, and Great Britain.
Ron is currently the Midwest Regional Director for The Navigators Church Discipleship Ministry where he and his staff are coaching church leaders in developing intentional disciplemaking ministries to men. Ron also serves as chairman of the elder team for his local church. Ron speaks at leadership and men’s conferences both in the US and overseas.
Mary is part of the leadership team of her local church’s women’s ministry where she helps disciple women and develop the small group emphasis. Ron and Mary continue to live in Kansas City, MO and have four grown children.
