Rick Bundschuh
Rick Bundschuh is a Pastor, veteran Youthworker, writer, speaker and cartoonist based in Kauai, Hawaii.
Born and raised in 50’s era stucco house near the ocean in San Diego, California, Rick came to age in the surf/hippie culture of the 1960’s.
Fortunate enough to connect with an aggressive and imaginative youth Pastor during his early teen years Rick converted to Christianity (from raw hedonism) and began the spiritual journey that, along the way, led him into the ministry.
After attending Capernwray Bible School in the United Kingdom, Rick became a youth Pastor himself, continuing in that calling for the next 28 years with the exception of a six year stint as the Creative Director for Youth Resources at Gospel Light Publications
Know for his creativity, “over the top” imagination and successful efforts in reaching un-churched teens, Rick has been instrumental in flooding the churches he has worked in with pagans, trolls and other wild converts. (A talent not always appreciated in some circles)
Along the way he managed to squeeze out a regular 2 page cartoon feature in Surfer Magazine (running 1980-86) and authored dozens of books.
Migrating to Kauai in 1986 (rumors he was chased out of California are unfounded) Rick soon found himself back in youth ministry.
Currently Rick serves as a teaching Pastor at Kauai Christian Fellowship and he also continues to write and illustrate material for various publishers. In addition, he has launched a unique online resource store for youth workers called Unkommon Media (www.uncommonmedia.com)
Founded by Rick and a few other “mad hatters” in 1991, Kauai Christian Fellowship is a nondenominational church with a reputation for being high energy, amplified and postmodern oriented.
He lives with his beautiful wife Lauren, their kids, a weenie dog and a quiver of surfboards in Poipu, Hawaii.
