The Doorway to Hope
We can see the Rocky Mountains from our windows. When we go hiking, we often see rock climbers. They hammer pitons--spikes--into tiny cracks in the cliffs, attach ropes through them, and climb sheer rock faces.
When we choose to trust in God's sovereign goodness, it's as if we are driving a piton into the rock of His character. As He proves Himself trustworthy, it helps us trust Him in the midst of even greater challenges. Oswald Chambers wrote, "Faith is not some weak and pitiful emotion, but is strong and vigorous confidence. . . . Faith is the supreme effort of your life--throwing yourself with abandon and total confidence upon God."
