One of my favorite pastimes on a balmy spring afternoon is watching a mallard lead her ducklings around a pond. Just a few days old, the ducklings swim behind her, secure in her closeness.What important days those must be for the mother duck! In only another month or so, her youngsters will be striking out on their own. Will they know how to find food?
