Pray! Blog

Introducing Pray! Blog

 Permanent link
I’m still adjusting to the idea that I’m no longer the editor of a magazine all and only about prayer. The news that Pray! would cease publication came to me as an unwelcome surprise. I appreciate the hard economic realities; nevertheless, I mourned the loss and wondered how thousands of our former readers would continue to be encouraged and equipped in prayer.

As I invited God into my grieving, however, He assured me that the ministry of Pray! is not over—it’s just going to look different than it has in the past. He’s the Word, it’s true, but the Word isn’t limited to ink on paper. God assured me that He has been keeping up with technology and in fact is far ahead of me in 21st-century communications.

So, to make a long story short, you’re reading my first-ever blog. Pray! Blog is just one of the many ways NavPress (Pray!’s publisher) intends to continue serving the prayer movement, churches, and individuals who want to grow in their passion for Christ through prayer. If you visit the Pray! website (www.praymag.com), you’ll find other ways you can continue to grow in prayer and stay connected with what God’s doing around the world in prayer.

What will I be talking about in this blog? In some form or another, I’ll always be sharing about prayer. Sometimes I’ll let you in on challenges, ponderings, or discoveries in my personal conversations with God. Other times I’ll report what I hear happening around the nation and world in prayer. I might share an inspiring story or a fresh idea I’ve come across. You might read about a prayer group I am a part of or what’s happening in a church prayer ministry I’ve visited. Maybe I’ll tell you about a great book or a thought-provoking article or news report that somehow calls us to pray. But whatever the topic, I hope that it will keep you inspired and moving forward in your communicating with God.

One advantage blogs have over magazines is their potential to engage two-way conversation. I really look forward to hearing your questions, insights, and experiences concerning the topics I bring up in the Pray! Blog.  Let’s get started. What conversations would you like to see in this blog about prayer?

Cynthia,

We will all miss the print version of Pray! - It was an inspiration and a great resource - But I am sure you will find ways to make the online version equally inspiring and resourceful.

I hope you are given the capacity to continue soliciting and/or posting new articles - Keep the conversation alive!

Thanks to you and the Lord for all you have done since becoming Editor.

I'm so sorry to hear that PRAY is being discontinued. I was just getting to the place where I was learning how to use it, and wanted to recommend it to others.

I've loved Pray! Mag for years and will miss it greatly. Thanks for the many helps and great articles.

You asked what we'd like to discuss. My wife and I have been in the ministry for many years. I have served as Pastor of several churches and we have served as missionaries to Portugal. Having been in the ministry, we thought we knew how to pray...until this year.

For the past 15 months, I've been "between churches." That's another way of saying "unemployed." God began to convict us of our prayerlessness and so we determined to seek the Lord Jesus more fervently by getting up two hours earlier and starting with two hours of prayer each morning. Wow! What a blessing that's been.

But most other believers with whom God leads us to share our experiences are far from excited. They have little or no interest in praying or learning more about prayer.

I'd love for you to discuss ideas on how to get people excited about prayer, how to involve them in prayer groups and ministries, and how to chip away at the apathy we all face from time to time when it comes to spending quality time with the Father.

Cynthia,

I too am grieving the loss of Pray! magazine. Although I am comfortable with technology, I love the printed page. I have never written to a paper, magazine, editorial etc. but I believe there are many of us silent one's that will feel a tremendous loss. God is good and will not leave us hanging but when I found Pray! I felt a sense of community knowing that there are many others willing to share their encounters with our Father, doing bat. Listening to other's share their walk is very encouraging.

cont.
I hit the send key accidently (so much for feeling confortable with technology).
...doing battle on our knee's, feeling alone, or going through "dry periods", could get discouraging. Knowing there is a community of prayer warriors "out there" helps to keep me grounded. Also listening to the triumph's and joys of growing closer to God is pure joy. I look forward to what God has in store for your blog. It would be wonderful if there was a chat room(s) where one could go live and pray or exchange idea's on their prayer life. May God continue to bless you and all who continue to fight for our Lord.

I am so sorry to hear this. I love Pray! and use it often. I am excited to hear about your blog and will be a frequent reader. I always like to hear about ways people organize their prayer lives. For example creative ways to journal and pray; how to organize your prayer lists to make sure everyone is prayed for throughout the week. I am interested in warfare prayer and learning more about that. The topic possibilities are endless!

It is sad that we will no longer be able to take PRAY to a quiet corner or the back yard to enjoy all the articles, to make notes on it, to mark articles of special interest so that we can revisit them. It traveled with me to the doctor’s office, on car rides (as a passenger of course) to the park and wherever there was an opportunity to settle down and read. I understand that the state of our economy forces this decision. Thank you for the blogs. I guess I better upgrade my aged printer. Thank You for all your hard work. Karin Paul

All I was performing was cruising the web and I discovered your web site and all of the sudden my views have altered. Very good on you, man!

In the dead of night have all of the guests go outside into the backyard with their flashlights. Tell them that you're having a scavenger hunt and that every of them should look for a star that has their name on it.

Bob Schultz, the event founder, makes sure only top talent attends and keeps the show running like a clock. Playmates in attendance this year included Julie Cialini (Playmate of the Year 1995), Debra Jo Fondren (Playmate of the Year 1978), Jaime Faith Edmondson (1/10), Liz Glazowski (4/80), Janis Schmitt (2/78, who I was also a bunny with at the St.

One of the best things about being a Christian is the sense of fellowship and unity it imparts. Take Christian teens, for example--unlike a lot of other teenagers, young Christians know where they fit in, and are never without a sense of family.
