Pray! FAQs

1. Why was the decision made to stop publishing Pray!?

The challenges of the ongoing economic downturn compounded by the fact that consumers are relying increasingly upon electronic media for information have caused NavPress, publishers of Pray! magazine, to cease publishing Pray! with the May/June 2009 issue being the last. The decision was made after much painful deliberation, with input from industry experts and NavPress’ parent ministry, The Navigators. They put off the decision for as long as possible. No one wanted to go down this road, but ultimately company leadership concluded there was no other option.

2. How can I stay in touch with Pray!?

Although Pray! magazine will not continue in either print or digital formats, NavPress remains committed to encouraging your relationship with Christ through prayer. How? In several ways. First, NavPress will continue to publish books and resources to equip you, your prayer group, and your church in prayer. One way to learn about these is to sign up for our free Pray! Online News. Each month you’ll get a new column written by editor Cynthia Bezek, along with great articles from the Pray! archives and announcements of new prayer resources and prayer opportunities (go to http://www.navpress.com/account/newsletters.aspx). Second, Cynthia Bezek is available to come to your church to lead prayer retreats or to teach on prayer. Contact me to learn more at pray@navpress.com or 719-531-3559.

 3. How can I access Pray! articles?

On the Pray! home page, click on “Archives.” Once you sign in, you will have access to over 1,000 of  Pray!’s valuable articles. You can search by article title, author, topic, etc.

 4. How can I help the ministry of Pray!?

Thanks for asking! We’d love to have you encourage the ministry of Pray! in this new season by visiting our website, participating in the forum and blogs you’ll find there, letting us know about your prayer events so we can add them to the web calendar, inviting us to lead your prayer retreats, checking out the great books on prayer at NavPress, and telling your friends that though we’ve changed, we’re still here to provide resources, equipping, and encouragement in your relationship with Christ through prayer. And of course we appreciate your prayers.

  5. What is Pray! Online News?

Pray! Online News is a free monthly e-newsletter sent to anyone who asks for it. It is not an online magazine. It is a place where in each issue you’ll find a fresh column by editor Cynthia Bezek, specially selected classic articles from the Pray! archives, reminders about prayer events such as the National Day of Prayer or Clergy Awareness Month, and information about prayer resources published by NavPress. You can get your free subscription by going to http://www.navpress.com/account/newsletters.aspx.

 6. Will there be an online version of the magazine?

No. Both the print and digital versions of the magazine have ceased. However, we  continue to offer the Pray! Online News (see question 5).

 7. I depended on Pray! to encourage and equip my church and me in prayer. Where can I go for this help now that the magazine is gone?

See question 2. Also consider purchasing back issues for your church or personal library (see question 8).

8. I’d like to get back issues of Pray! before they are all gone. How do I do that?
