Contemplative Prayer

This is absolutely heretical to teach unsuspecting children contemplative prayer tactics. What has happened to the Faith?

Tragic

I is a sad thing to see how the Hindu mysticism of the east, is slowly being accepted as 'Christian". We are to be training our children to study to show themselves approved, not focusing and centerng oneself on ideas and thoughts, even if they are Biblical. May the Lord save us all from this lunacy. Contemplative Prayer

Since this issue of Pray Kids mentions contemplative prayer at least 25 times, let’s talk about it. Contemplation means to think about something intently or to study it carefully. The contemplation you are teaching is the opposite. The method this issue promotes is to take a short cut, skip the studying and understanding, and get right into the realm of experiencing. This is not what the Bible says about how to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Likewise, in practising Lectio Divina, the verse or passage simply becomes a way to have an experience, rather than to gain understanding of scripture. This is not how the Bible instructs us to learn or teach the basics of the Christian faith, especially to our undiscerning children!
