Excellent

This is an amazing accurate presentation of jesus style in a non institutional way. It is obvious to true followers that Jesus would never condone the type of religious franchise institutions that exist today.

Love it!

The Message is just so full of life! The Bible is not meant to be a dead book, its the living Creator of the Universe's word to us, and by putting the Bible into relevant and exciting language, we do not lose the vibrant, radical, loving spirit that it was written in. I highly recommend it.

No, the Message is great

As Im running a 20s-30s group - its really going to be a major help - especially when there's evangelical services happening. What, would I give a newly saved (amen!) 20something a NKJV bible ? Yuk! They're going to read it and think, well look at this, its all olde traditional language. However, give them the Message - and what a reaction, they'll read it and see that it's the same Bible, but written in today's language - snap! perfect fit every time ! Im going to buy it tomorrow !

Acceptable

Having been introduced to Christ through the KJV and then moving on to the NIV,The Williams Translation and Good News for Modern Man, I find this paraphrase just as acceptable. I do not like some areas, but many times it speaks the same language that I do when explaining a passage.

I'm buying four

I read a small portion of this new version at a Bible site and it gave me an exciting insight into the passage that I'd never thought of before. We own several scholarly, officially sanctioned translations, a Bible dictionary, and umpteen study guides. Now that we don't drag our college-aged kids to Sunday School, do they look at them? No. I remember as a teen that my love for Scripture was ignited by the old "Good News for Modern Man" bound in a small denim cover with a blue jean style pocket on the cover. Maybe after I give my girls the pocket versions of this modern, readable "translation" (or whatever you want to call it), they'll find themselves diving into The Word regularly. The scholarly stuff will be waiting for them when they are ready for it.
