The editor uses the term "channel surfing"in respect to a wondering mind.
Also a "Hollywood" mansion.
A reader might deduce that these terms were in use in 1688 which is untrue.
It would be better to stick to the original text.

We Need More Books Like This
I'll be honest with you... there is a serious need in the Christian market for books like this. Reading this book opened up the words of Brother Lawrence like no other book I've ever read before! The updated language in this book (that's perferct for use as a devotional) made the timeless teachings of Brother Lawrence accessible to a whole new generation of readers. I know there may be those who say otherwise, but recent translations of the Bible like the Message and books like Mr. Elmer's latest are wonderful resources that today's Christians cannot overlook.

RICH!
This little book only made me hunger for more of these translations! What a rich experience. And perfect for my teen sons to read as well. Elmer provides the reader with strong - and good! - historical background to the famous book and delves into the life of this guy called Lawrence. Thanks to the author and the Publisher for bringing us this wonderful read that gives much insight to glean for days to come. It is a handy little reference in the Christian walk!

Fresh and Timeless
Robert Elmer is an outstanding writer and he was the perfect choice to update the timeless words of one of the Church's most profound and humble teachers. Brother Lawrence's simple wisdom answers the eternal questions of meaning and purpose and hopefully Elmer's fresh new rendering will rekindle interest in this priceless classic.

Excellent Update!
This new update truly helped me understand the Brother Lawrence classic! The message is the same, but the present-day word pictures help "drive the truths home" in a fresh way.
I'll want to read this book several times a year!
