Missing Link
I believe this is the missing link for many of us who have been broken, to get to a knowledge and understanding of gods grace. Thank you... I am trying to find the guide and DVD to start a study with my friends and family. .

The Best Book on God's Grace & Trusting Him that I've Ever Read!
When I signed up to read books for review through NavPress, I expected some great books to pass through my mailbox – however, I never expected them to be tools God uses to absolutely transform my life as it is states we do in Romans 12:2, "…be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
TrueFaced, by Bill Thrall, Bruce McNicol and John Lynch (and published by NavPress), is truly one of these books that have blown me away! I thought I was getting a good grasp on God grace and trusting Him, until I started reading the first chapter of this book!
I didn't do the exercises for study at the end of each chapter (yet), but I did glean through them and found that the questions asked are asked in such a way to prompt deep excavation inside yourself so as to allow God into your minds and hearts to reveal just who you really are to yourself, to Him and to others. This of course, as it is clearly stated throughout the book, is in no way meant to prompt guilt or condemnation – but to prompt healing. For, if we are ever to truly heal in our lives from the unresolved sin that gets buried often by trying to cover up our messes in life in the name of pleasing others – rather than pleasing God by simply embracing His loving grace into our lives in trust – we will never experience the true freedom of Christ that we were all given upon the days of our salvation.
Anyone who engages this book must be ready for an absolute life (and heart) change; because this book won't leave you alone…much like a good friend. These three authors are truly living in the Room of Grace (as they talk about in the book). In reading this book, you are in this room with them hearing their invitation to sit down for a cup of coffee as they tell you that you are welcomed here and that it's okay to be broken here. There won't be any judgment or condemnation upon you…and oh, by the way, they will tell you of their own brokenness as well.
I can't recommend this book enough, and I have added it to my personal study collection.
This book is perfect for the individual to use for personal study, as well as to be utilized in a small group format. The study resources can be found here. You can also visit the TrueFaced website at TrueFaced.com

TrueFaced
I wasn't sure at first what to think as I began reading TrueFaced. I felt that there were many generalizations that I couldn't identify with in the beginning chapters, such as the three catergories that "mask-wearers" fell into: "The Land of Doing Just Fine," "Still Searching for the Next Technique," and the "Pedigree Mask." None seemed to fit me, but as I continued to perservere through the book, I became quite pleased with what I read.
I especially appreciated the concept of how grace works (page 61). Understanding the five truths of grace i.e. humility attracts grace, grace changes our life focus, grace lets God handle sin, grace melts masks, and graces changes how we treat each other and our sin issues, is the basis for our own personal sanctification. This is somthing that absolutely every Christian can and must identify with! When we understand grace, our whole lives can change. We can then begin to peel away the masks and walk in newness of life. This book does a great job of beginning to help us see ourselves in light of the cross and acheive true change!
So although the first part was not super pertinant to me, I was very impressed with the last part and I'm sure that others would be able to identify with the whole book!

TrueFaced
Any Believer who has been a Christian for any bit of time may find challenges in the transformation process when in comes to loving people in general, and most especially with those you try to fellowship in church. I wanted to like this book, but unfortunately, I found it confusing and challenging but not so much in the spiritual realm where I want to be challenged as far as growth and self-application is concerned.
TrueFaced had some good intentions, and some good moments but sadly I didn’t find it very likeable or easy to follow. The authors shared about two rooms: The Rooms of Good Intentions and The Room of Grace. While sharing many examples about the two different rooms and what to find there, it lacked the how to or what to do to get out of your masks mainly focusing on trusting God and focusing on Grace.
What intrigued me most about the book was to finally face the reality that Christians do wear masks. I wanted to learn how to get rid of it but did not find a thorough explanation or it lacked of conviction for me as a reader.
Some of the scenarios were inviting, sharing about mature Christians for years covering up their unresolved sins with masks but the writing, and/or presentation fell short of any real suggestions, applications except for finding yourself in the second room of God’s grace rather than the first room of Good Intentions. The answer was an emphasis on Trusting God.
The book ended with encouraging readers toward Discovering God’s Dreams for you, but still left me wondering whether those masks are still in tact or even gone at all. The subtitle states, “trust God and others with who you really are” but I was more interested in masks, and why Christians even find it necessary to have. I suppose I was reading an entirely different book for an entirely different reason.
The teaching is a good reminder and pursuit in Trusting God with who we really are where no masks are needed, but as a reader I think the presentation may still need more help to come across more clearly for readers.
