A True God-Send

I am so blessed that God gave me this book! It was exactly what I needed, and after reading it once, I am ready to read it again! It provides a wealth of knowledge about how to help a self injurer that you love. It honestly allowed me to understand the deep hurts that self injurers struggle with daily. Once those wounds are recognized, the authors provide reccomendations on how to approach the situation from both a clinical and spiritual perspective. It really helped me understand the complexity of dealing with self injury and that it is a long journey to healing and victory. This book made me realize that cutting is no easy issue to battle with, and you truly must be committed to the one you care about to be there for them and to help them along

Compassionate look at a real-life topic

Finally a Christian non-fiction book crosses the shame barrier to address self-injury. Jerusha Clark's book is a compassionate but thorough look at this difficult issue. She references many well-respected non-Christian authors and resources, providing reliable information about self-injury. Her discussion of brain imaging techniques authenticates the medical aspects of the disorder. Clark also discusses emotional and spiritual foundations of self-abuse in a thorough but caring way.
