Reading this book was a two day affair. Wonderful! I accomplished nothing, but enjoyed every minute. Sharon is a wonderfully visual writer. I was totally transported. I highly recommend her Becky Miller series, too!

The Restorer by Sharon Hinck is the first book in the Sword of Lyric series, a great first book! Susan Mitchell is the heroin in a story of fantastical proportions. She’s a normal housewife with four kids and a loving husband. But even with those blessings life just isn’t too easy, she needs a space of her own to battle the dark clouds that have encircled her. At her husband’s wish, more of a loving decree, he builds her an attic hideaway—one that turns into something so much more. Transported through a portal in her attic Susan is thrust into a world of political intrigue where corrupt council members grapple for power and forsake the One. Mind and soul poisoning enemies that want only to destroy. And those who would dispatch with the verses and follow the lands surrounding them into their “enlightenment”. Susan is thrown into a great story by Mrs. Hinck with many unique players and lovable, and equally despicable players: A disgruntled but loyal guardian, Tristan who is still mourning a sister. His best friend, a wild card named Kieran bitter of his loss of a sister and cut loose from the council. And a council member intent on having it all, Cameron. No matter what alliances cost the people. Finding her missing, her husband Mark enters into this strange world looking for his wife. How does he know about this hidden world and will he be able to find her in time?
Questions and unknowns dog Susan from the moment she is pulled through the portal, but will her reliance on the One and love of her family be enough to sustain her? Or will she fall to the darkness that wishes to be rid once and for all, of—The Restorer.
I really enjoyed the book and the spiritual themes about God were refreshing and encouraging. Thanks Mrs. Hinck!

I was looking forward to reading this book, but when I got to page 32 it skipped all the way to page 62 and I missed an important portion of the storyline. Also, the first chapter was printed twice. Please check your publishing details before you sell the book

LOVED THIS BOOK
I LOVED this book! and this is coming from someone who hardly ever reads. And that's saying something because unless I can really get hooked on a book for more than the first chapter, I'm liable to put it down. But not this one! I could not put down this book. It captured my attention from beginning to end! From the surprising twists to the spiritual value. I laughed, I cried, in some instances I was tied up in suspense just anticipating what was gonna happen next! I learned how powerful thoughts and words could be. I learned it's important to follow God's will, and I learned the power of a mustard seed size faith! This book reminds you how awesome, and how big our God is!

Warning! This is a DANGEROUS book!
As a responsible adult and ever-vigilant protector of all that is good and true, I feel it imperative that I issue a stern warning about The Restorer by Sharon Hinke.
This is a very dangerous book. Reading this book will upset your place in the time-space continuum. It will suck you into its pages like a portal into another reality, and then drop you back into our world hours later, potentially leaving entire days unaccounted for. And, if you are given to reading in the bathtub, be warned: it is nearly impossible to put this book down long enough to towel off, and you may find yourself trapped in a tub of room-temperature bathwater with more pruney wrinkles than a bulldog.
Established CBA Mom-Lit author Sharon Hinke has accomplished something incredible in The Restorer–a successful fusion of Mom-Lit and Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Allegory genres. Like any fusion of extremes, hard-core advocates of either genre will have to adjust a little. The hard-core Mom-Lit fans may find it challenging at first to get their heads around the alternate universe that burned-out soccer mom Susan Mitchell falls into; portals into alternate realities aren’t exactly the norm in Mom-Lit. Likewise, hard-core Fantasy readers may be challenged by the interpretation of that alternate reality through the eyes of a suburban soccer-mom. However, those who have the creative vision to see this fusion for what it is and approach without presumption will find The Restorer to be a wondrous journey with a truly unique twist or two and more than a few surprises as soccer-mom Susan grows into her calling in the alternate reality, and in the process rediscovers herself.
Be warned that once you open this book and start reading, you might slip through the portal right behind Susan. I did, and I want to go back. It’s a good thing this is the first of three (and who knows, maybe more) in the Sword of Lyric series. I’ll soon make the return trip with The Restorer’s Son.
