Can not know what you are buying.
I dislike the Bibles. You cannot know what you are buying without getting it in a store where you can look at it. There are too many different variations and it is impossible to identify which, for example, are full bibles and which are just New Testament or something else. The size and nature is also misleading and ill defined. What, for example, is meant by "personal size"? there are also different titles, Message, Conversations, New Testament Plus Psalms and Proverbs and so on. I gave up at Amazon and the publisher's web site is no better.

this is not the Word of God
The message is a joke! anyone who takes this book seriously or considers it the Word of God needs to examine themselves. http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/eugenepeterson-the-message.html visit this site and read the message side by side with the true Word of God the KJV. There will be no denying that the message is just a big garbled mess of compromisemixed with wordly lingo. The KJV 1611 was written to an 8th grade reading level so to say you have to be a scholar to read it laughable. Don't waste your time with this watered down garbage!

Fresh Insight
As a student of God's word for nearly 3 decades and a Children's Pastor, the Message is one of my favorite translations. It is probably not the translation of choice for more expository teaching because it is a paraphrase rather than a word for word translation. But the strength of this approach is that it often captures the tone, cultural relevance, or even humor more effectively than a word for word translation. It is fresh and rather non-religious which is very appealing to the post modern mind, but not at all lacking the accuracy or truth of other versions.

The Message BIBLE
I just wanted to let people know that the message bible is a great tool and study guide for all of those who want to be able to read and understand the concept of all the Old Testament along with the New Testament. I love this bible, I've never been able to set down and read the King James Version, due to there was so much you couldn't understand, unless you were some kind of Scholar; everyday common people just could not relate to what was being told. With the Message Bible, it starts with the begining of the story, and progress right along throughout the History of time, and you can really understand what's been said, you can relate to the stories; you actually want to read the BIBLE to find out what's going to happen next. The Message Bible is AWESOME, and gives more people around the world to be able to learn and understand the Messages of the Bible "GOD's Word". I have purchased 3 or 4 Message Bible's and I've kept one for myself, and given the rest of them to People who just wanted to know about our Lord and Savior, but couldn't understand the King James Version; once I showed them the Message and shared some of the Scriptures with them, they were anxious to get started on their own.....Thank You for the Message Bible
