Did not disappoint
Bridges on the Journey does not disappoint. While the study appears to be basic and foundational to someone who has been walking with the Lord for a long time, it asks really hard questions that require the reader to stop all distractions and truly look into her deepest heart issues in approaching spiritual disciplines.
In my opinion, it was exactly what I needed.
It was through Bridges on the Journey that I found new excitement in getting up at 5 in the morning, playing my favorite worship song, reading, and writing my heartfelt love letters to my Father. My recent transition to Nashville has been quite an adjustment; and this study was instrumental in keeping my sanity (due to homesickness) intact.
The only that will make this study better? Going through this study with other women who are hungry to re-establish her sense of self-awareness in terms of communicating with God.
I personally find it difficult to not have someone to do a personal study with from a discipleship standpoint. However, I am filled with joy knowing that this book helped me lock-in my intimacy with Jesus in such a crazy personal season.

MORE THAN A BIBLE STUDY
As a lover of NavPress Bible studies, this one didn’t fall short. Bridges on the Journey is a great study for brand new Christians. I think every woman will not only feel a great sense of accomplishment by completing this study, but more importantly, will have an insatiable hunger for Jesus. This is very simply a great tool to catapult women into a deeper relationship with God.
This is more than a Bible study. Many of the questions were introspective, causing the reader to look within and each chapter focused on different spiritual disciplines. The daily reading, journaling and prayer I found to be great tools to help readers understand Scripture and how it relates to life. At the same time, it teaches them how to communicate daily with the Lord and make it a habit - a lifelong habit. The Reflections on the Journey section adds a personal touch, a great story many women can relate to.
Taking this journey is one I encourage every woman to take; it’s a practical tool for women at all stages of their Christian walk. I recommend this study to every woman looking to take a journey of self-discovery that leads her into the arms of Jesus.
The only negative for me was the depth of the study. Sometimes I was left wanting more. Maybe that would not be a concern for a new Christian

Great mentoring tool
I'm the Discipleship Director at our church, and I have developed a one-on-one mentoring network throughout our church. This series is what I suggest all the women use as the basis of their weekly one-hour meetings with each other. It makes a great basis for discussion together, covering all the core topics of the Christian life, and opening opportunities to discuss important areas where growth might be needed. Newer believers start in book 1. Believers who want to go deeper start in book 2. A few who are already very mature believers, but just want to learn how to mentor start in book 3 (though it's good to go through book 2 first).
