Awesome study!

Absolutely WONDERFUL study!! It takes our small group about 1.5hrs to complete each chapter as the questions prompt great discussion. We love how Cynthia uses scripture from both OT and NT to reach her objectives. This study was a bit challenging for those new to the Bible - mainly because they were unfamiliar with where all the verses were located. If anyone found the content to be a bit over their heads, it was always cleared up through discussion. The Holy Spirit has worked on my small group in amazing ways through this study! We often thank God for giving Cynthia the guidance and direction to write this study!! We would HIGHLY recommend this study to anyone who wants a stronger faith walk!!!!

Review of Becoming a Woman of Faith

In her book, Becoming a Woman of Faith, Cynthia Heald provides modern women with a scriptural study that will help them grow and develop their faith. While the initial conversion experience is a welcome one, believers often fall away as they experience the troubles of daily life. Through a series of subject based readings, Heald guides women through the process of learning the Bible's truths about God's faithfulness and love. Along with scriptural readings, Heald also gives readers quotes from Christian writers and her own insights so that women can gain a full understanding of scripture and the development of faith. Although many Bible studies can be overly intellectual, Cynthia Heald gives modern women a series of readings that will give them the means to develop a mature faith that will withstand trials. In addition, because the studies focus on the love and faithfulness of God for us, they also instill hope in people who are often troubled in today's society. While the new Christian will be able to gain much from this book, even the Christian with many years since their conversion will be able to learn from these studies and develop their own faith and personal relationship with God. A woman who studiously reads Cynthia Heald's book will grow their own knowledge of scripture and faith. Navpress provided me with a copy of this book as part of their blogger program. The opinions in this review are my own.

Great Devotional for Women.

Becoming a Woman of Faith, written by Cythia Heald, is a devotional study for women of all ages and walks of life who desire for their faith to be challenged, strengthened, and encouraged. Basing the text and chapters primarily off of Romans 12, she walks the reader through many Scriptures, quotes from great Christians, and attributes of faith. I liked the 11-week study format the author chose, in that each chapter begins with a brief lesson or message, and is followed by application as you delve into selected Scripture passages, questions for personal review and consideration, and a time of focused prayer. Although the topic and concept is a deep one to be sure, the study allows for anyone to participate, as it seems to me that the study parts of it could be completed in a rather short time, though one certainly wouldn’t want to rush through it as much insight could be gained by putting a fair amount of time towards the study of God’s word as she has prepared. As written, this study would be easily incorporated into one’s personal devotional time, or studied alongside others (which would also offer the added benefit of accountability to finish!). This study is one of several written by the author, the others being: Becoming a Woman of Simplicity, Becoming a Woman of Excellence, Becoming a Woman of Freedom, Becoming a Woman of Prayer & Becoming a Woman of Purpose. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from NavPress Publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Outstanding Book!

Several months ago, I joined the NavPress book reviewer program. The first book that I received was, "Becoming A Woman of Faith" by Cynthia Heald. This book is a rather short book, containing 105 pages. However, those few pages contain many thought provoking questions and is full scripture references for you to dig into. I have used this book as part of my daily, personal devotional time for the past few weeks. It contains 11 chapters of thought, all related to our faith in Christ, and each chapter is about seven to eight pages in length. The length of the chapters may seem long, but most pages have three or four scripture references with a lot of space provided so you can write down your answers to each of her questions. At the end of each chapter, the author provides you with a scripture reference for you to memorize. I personally have found this book extremely refreshing and very enjoyable to use. It was very conducive to working on small portions at a time. Being a mom of three small children, I don't always have a lot of time to just sit, read and study, but this was a wonderful book to be able to study since you could read only small portions at a time. If you are looking for a book with all of the answers and with lots of self-help suggestions, this is not the book for you. But if you are willing to sit down with this book and with your Bible and to study the Scriptures, you will find this to be an excellent tool to aid you.

An excellent book!

This is an eleven week study by Cynthia Heald. I really enjoyed my eleven week study with this book. The book starts out by teaching us how God is faithful. Cynthia uses a lot of scripture to show us how God is faithful. I was able to go through each chapter a little each day and meditate on the scriptures that she has you look up. This is something that can be done in one sitting if you have about half an hour to an hour. I felt very refreshed and closer to God at the end of the eleven weeks and I am looking forward to getting some of her other eleven week studies.

Great Study on Prayer

Cynthia Heald has offered a fresh approach to the difficult topic of faith. She tackles God's faithfulness, our doubt, testing, the shield of faith and heroes of the faith. She uses her own experiences combined with quotes from Scripture and great people of faith to demonstrate God's love and faithfulness. This 11-chapter study can be completed as an individual study or a group study. You can complete it at your own pace and each chapter is filled with scripture references with examples of how faith was lived out in the Bible and quotes from people of faith used to inspire us and make us think about our faith. She also includes her own experiences, short comings and successes. I enjoyed this study. It's a great study on faith and one that will renew your faith and encourage you to keep seeking God and His words. It takes about 30-45 minutes for each session depending on how in-depth you want to study. I recommend this to any woman searching for a personal Bible study. I would also recommend as an excellent small group study. This is truly an enjoyable and thought-provoking study on the exercise of faith.

Great for Busy Women and New Christians

Filled with personal ancedotes from the author and plenty of space for personal reflections, I enjoyed reading "Becoming a Woman of Faith" and like the fact that this is perfect for going on vacations or trips and still being able to have a bible study to work on without concern of losing pace. Ms. Heald provides notable quotes from noted individuals as A.W. Tozer, while in between it all, really having the individual deal into topics of what is having faith and how to use personal struggles to grow one's faith. Something that came to mind as well as I read through "Becoming a Woman of Faith" was the fact that "Becoming a Woman of Faith" makes a great gift idea as well, for new or even Christians who might have fallen off their walk and help them learn the basic of building a strong faith based in and through our Heavenly Father. Well written, easy to carry in a purse or tote back, "Becoming a Woman of Faith" , I highly recommend this for moms on the go and looking for bible studies that are accomodating for a busy schedule, for women to take on trips or just for a gift.

Learning to trust God by learning who God is

Another nice book in the series, teaching women to be women of God. I like many things in this book.* Esthetically - The book color is pleasing, the fonts are inviting, and the length of the book is encouraging. Substantially the book does what it sets out to do, teach about why we should all have faith in God. The focus on scripture is great, the encouragement to memorize scripture is phenomenal, because the word truly has power. The excerpts from faithful men and women of God was also very good, because these people have a way of describing scripture, or describing God, that could help bring understanding and clarity. * NavPress Provided me with a free copy to review I had some concerns about the reference to God's Sovereignty, Paul's thorn in the flesh, and God's healing ability... For more information on that feel free to check out my website: www.iyasOStuff.com However, I will recommend this book because we all need to learn God's attributes because once we learn how good, kind, merciful, gracious, and loving He is, it is easy to be a woman of Faith.
