Leaders who don\u2019t play it safe. Who risk and are ready for adventure. Leaders who will unbuckle their seat belts and get out of their safe comfort zone. Jesus\u2019 12 disciples quickly saw their comfort zones disappearing in the rear view mirror. For example:<img class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/billtell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-desire-for-safety.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cOkay men, put those nets down, leave that nice job behind and follow me.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLet\u2019s go across to the other side. Never mind the storm.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI have a little trip for you, but leave behind all your money, food, and other equipment.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cStop talking about sending them home. Feed them. There are only 5,000.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhy are you scared out of your wits \u2013 it\u2019s no ghost. It\u2019s me.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cRemember the 5,000? Let\u2019s do it again here in the desert.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The disciples were learning a FOUNDATIONAL LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE: <strong>comfort and safety are not in the circumstances, but in the One who controls the circumstances.<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/billtell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/quotes-a-ship-in-harbor_14262-0-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"230\" \/>And so it is for today\u2019s gospel leaders and disciples. Pursuing circumstantial safety leaves you on the sidelines\u2026it leaves you behind. Out of the game. Jesus said, \u201cWhere I am there will my servant be also (John 12:26). And that will be a place of adventure!<br \/>\nRemember Mr. Beaver in <em>The Chronicles of Narnia <\/em>describing Aslan the lion? Aslan \u201cisn\u2019t safe.
