Watson\u2019s Facebook post, which effectively expressed an assortment of emotions that ranged from anger to embarrassment to hopelessness to hopefulness, was \u201cliked\u201d by nearly one million people.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nOne year later, Tyndale House Publishers released Watson\u2019s Under Our Skin: Getting Real about Race\u2014and Getting Free from the Fears and Frustrations That Divide Us. The highly regarded book, which has been referred to as part memoir and part social commentary, is a challenging look at race, bias, and justice.<a href=\"www.underourskinforum.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3036\" src=\"https:\/\/www.navpress.com\/sites\/thedisciplemaker\/wp-content\/uploads\/Under-Our-Skin-Forum.jpg\" width=\"556\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nOn Thursday, February 16, 2017, Watson (now with the Baltimore Ravens) and other national thought leaders will come together at The Crossing Church in Tampa to discuss race and faith. Prominent leaders attending include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Author and Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy<\/li>\n<li>Former NFL Walter Payton Man-of-the-Year award winner Warrick Dunn<\/li>\n<li>Heisman Trophy winner and Executive Director of Desire Street Ministries Danny Wuerffel<\/li>\n<li>Author and speaker Mo Isom<\/li>\n<li>Detroit pastor and <a href=\"http:\/\/books.thedisciplemaker.org\/choose-and-choose-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NavPress author J. Kevin Butcher<\/a><\/li>\n<li>NavPress Author and Executive Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/books.thedisciplemaker.org\/meals-from-mars\/#about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Restoration Academy Ben Sciacca.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The event will be moderated by ESPN\u2019s Sage Steele and music will be provided by Lizzy Cameron. The participants in Under Our Skin: A Forum on Race and Faith desire to <strong>move this argument and debate to one of understanding different perspectives by putting ourselves in someone else\u2019s shoes.<\/strong> While many similar forums often end with engaging discussion but no action, this forum will provide a call to action for forum attendees to take with them to their homes, churches, schools, and jobs so that this discussion can continue far beyond one three-hour event.<br \/>\n\u201cI think it\u2019s important for all of us to let down our guard, to show some empathy, and be open to someone else\u2019s experience, even if it\u2019s different from our own,\u201d said Watson. \u201cThough our forum panelists won\u2019t agree on everything, we\u2019ll be intentional about having honest, heartfelt, and respectful dialogue. We all need a change of heart on the subject of race, and we all need to look introspectively. I think it\u2019s incumbent upon all of us to see where our own lives intersect with this dialogue.
