The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) announced a record-breaking 43 winners of the 2024 Top Shelf Book Cover Award during the opening ceremony of ECPA PubU, attended by over 200 publishing professionals. Presented by ECPA president Jeff Crosby with Brian Chung and Samuel Han Park of Alabaster Co., the awards honored outstanding book cover designs in four categories: Bibles, Children, Fiction, and Non-Fiction.
Judges reviewed over 260 entries from 16 publishers. The awards highlight the importance of exceptional design in book packaging and market success.
This year, NavPress’s Eva Winters won an award in the Bible category for her design work on The Message Women’s Devotional Bible.

When reflecting on her award, Eva told us: “When I was asked if I’d like to design this Bible, I immediately said yes. Not only do I love working with the NavPress team, but the description of The Message Women’s Devotional Bible really resonated with me: “Contemporary, not trendy. Beautiful but not fluffy. Earthy, warm, rich, and human. No pink or flowers.”
I wanted to create a mark to use both on the interior and on the leatherlike cover. While researching landscape imagery, something I once heard in a sermon came back to me — that God often meets with people in high places: He met with Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah, Moses saw the back of God on Mount Sinai, and of course, the Sermon on the Mount. The triangle in the mark represents us — earth-bound creatures — meeting with our God. The circle is a shape that represents unity, wholeness, and perfection. Here, it signifies the presence and holiness of God. Together, these two shapes illustrate God reaching down in relationship to us. I like to picture this overlap between us and God happening whenever we open a Bible.
I love the devotionals and how this Bible turned out, and it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one who thinks
it’s award-winning!”
Congratulations, Eva, on this wonderful achievement!
